Upcoming Assignments

June 12  All assignments have been completed and students are working on review assignments and participating in activities in class.

Below you will find the major assignments which we are working on, along with their due dates and some explanation of the assignment.  Students should have a criteria sheet explaining all major assignment and criteria so feel free to ask your child to bring these home. It is also important to remember that in my class due dates are flexible.  I recognize that sometimes the class will need more time or individuals may need more time due to a variety of reasons.  If your child is feeling that they need more time to complete their work please encourage them to come and chat with me and we will make arrangements to work for both of us.  Late assignments are never penalized.

Assignments we are working on

Week of April 13-17

We introduced genius hour criteria sheet today.  If your child has not shared this with you it is posted on the Genius hour page.  Students were given their planning page and have been asked to complete this, with parent signature for approval by April 29.  If your child has decided to work with a partner, please discuss with them how they will share the workload and agree on decisions to be made before agreeing to the partnership.

We are continuing to work on fractions in math.

We have begun our reading story, starting with reading responses.  We should be starting our novel studies by the beginning of May.

Week of April 6-10

We are continuing to work on our storyjumper stories.  Students will have 1 more class period to complete but after Friday they will need to complete this work either at home or in their free time.  If your child needs more time you can still sign up to allow them to work at home.

We are continuing to work on fractions in math.

Week of Mar 30-Apr 2

Math  Fractions of Me - students have had 3 class periods to complete their fraction collage.  They were asked to create a collage of fractions that tell us about themselves.  To fully meet expectations they should have 9-10 fractions along with explanation and small picture.  It should be coloured, easy to read and visually interesting.  DUE Wed April 1

Superhero Story - Students have been working for past few weeks on writing their superhero story.  All final copies have been handed in for marking.  They are now working on typing their story into a picture book format on Storyjumper and adding pics to accompany each page of text.  We will continue to work on this assignment throughout this week and into next week.  DUE  week of April 13.
